Supernatural Anime: You’re My Brother and I’d Die for You

When Supernatural‘s Sam Winchester tells Dean, “You’re my bother and I’d die for you,” at the end of “Bloody Mary,” he wasn’t just making a grand gesture. He really did die for Dean and Dean for him and that’s not counting all the times they put themselves in harm’s way in order to protect the other.

It all goes back to that terrible night when their mother died and Dean carried his baby brother out of the burning house. Since then, Dean’s always felt that it was his special duty to look after Sam and not just because he was the big brother.

The Winchester brotherly bond was born in blood and strengthened by years of having only each other to count on. I guess it’s also a game changer when you know the things that go bump in the night are real and out to get you.

I have two sisters and a brother, and though they’ve never had to put their lives on the line for me, they have been there with help and support when needed. Would they come running if I had a hellhound on my tail or a demon trying to take over my body? Let’s hope I never have to find out.
