When it comes to TV villains, they don’t come creepier than Charles Hoyt on Rizzoli & Isles. Michael Massee plays the serial killer who kicked off the first season in “See One, Do One, Teach One.” He returned eight episodes later in the appropriately titled “I’m Your Boogie Man.” But just when Jane thought she’d seen the last of this monster, he popped back up again in the Second Season episode “Remember Me.”
Hoyt has this weird, love – hate thing for Jane. He wants to kill her but he also loves to torture her both physically and mentally. In “Remember Me,” he draws her in with information about unsolved murders. He says he’s dying of cancer and wants to come clean but it’s hard for Jane to trust him after all he’s done to her.
Afraid as she is, she can’t justify walking away from him when it could mean closure for the victim’s family. So once again, Jane allows herself to be drawn back into the ultimate abusive relationship. You see, it’s not just about the victims. Jane knows that she’ll never be able to sleep soundly as long as she has Hoyt under her skin. She knows she has to face her fears and show him that she’s the boss.
So who wins? Does Jane rid herself of Hoyt forever or does he win yet another round? Find out when you watch Rizzoli & Isles: Season 2 on DVD. Then tune in to TNT on Tuesday, June 5 at 9 p.m. for the third season premiere.
