New on DVD: Aliens, Cartoon Adventures and a Hallucinating Detective

june 5

Perception

This series stars Eric McCormack as a neuroscience professor who helps one of his former students, whose now an FBI agent, solve crimes. One little problem. . . he’s a paranoid schizophrenic so not everything he sees is real, he’s also obsessive and cranky so think House of the FBI. On the upside, his delusions often help him solve the crimes.

What’s fun for the viewer is you never know which of Daniel’s visions are real or in his head until the very end of the episode. . . and sometimes not even then.

Perception will be back with all new episodes starting June 25. So you still have time to pick up Perception: The Complete First Season and get caught up before the premiere.

Adventure Time

This Cartoon Network series might have been made for kids but grown-ups love it, too. Erik Resnick, VP at the network says “Adventure Time fans are the best! They are totally passionate – and vocal – about what they want.” That’s a polite way of saying we’re crazy!!! (In a good way.)

Adventure Time: The Complete Second Season came out this week on both DVD and Blu-ray. Here’s what’s even crazier, there are 26 episodes and 26 commentaries. The DVD also comes with a behind the scenes featurette with Pendleton Ward and his team.  Huzzah!

Falling Skies

TNT’s creepy apocolyptal, the aliens are here and we’re all doomed series is also about the to return with a new season. If you need to catch up, head over to Amazon and pick up Falling Skies: The Complete Second Season on DVD or Blu-ray. (It’s amazing on Blu-ray)

There are only 10 episodes in the season, but they’re all so action-packed, it’s like watching 20! The DVD also includes a special feature on the writers (yeah!), “The Skitter Evolution” tour of the set, and commentary tracks and a few more.

Oh wait. . . one more thing. . .hang on while I check my box. . . yep, even a Falling Skies trading card. How cool is that?

That’s what I got this week. What box sets did you buy?
