I love the pilot so much. It feels like a complete movie that's also my theory why they needed until 'Home' to figure out what they wanted to do on a weekly basis. Storywise even if Supernatural would have never gotten a series order, you wouldn't feel being cheated because the final scene provides you rather with a sense of closure than being a real cliffhanger.
My absolute favorite scene of the pilot is the shadow fight. I love their choice of not giving away the identity of the intruder. It makes the fight even more interesting than the awesome choreography. I also love the way they shot the Impala with it's one functioning light being the only source of light when Dean drove Sam back to Stanford.

The thing I adore the most about the Pilot are their great use of shadows. It's like it's own character. The Winchesters fighting creatures that only appear in shadows and therefore becoming part of the shadow world. ;D Too poetic I know but I love the shadows in the pilot, similiar to my love of the fire in the movie 'Backdraft'.
