Supernatural Origins: Win an Autographed Copy CLOSED

Rising Son 1Supernatural Rising Son Issue #1 hit comic book stores this week and to celebrate the new series, we're giving away copies of Supernatural Origins: The Director's Cut.

ETA: Contest is Over.  Thanks for entering!

Rising Son picks up several years after the first comic series, Supernatural Origins, ended. Eleven-year old Dean is now old enough to join John on the hunt, but is he old enough to deal with the horrors he's about to see? And what about Sam? Now seven, he's really feeling the pain of the constant moving around, new schools, motel rooms instead of a home and hardly a chance to make friends. More and more the brothers come to depend only on each other as John continues to put the search for their mother's killer above all else.

In Issue One, John goes searching for one of Mary's relatives who has fallen off the map. Seems all her family and friends are disappearing and he's going to find out why. It's a brutal tale that reminds me of the Eerie and Creepy comics I used to read as a kid.

Issue Two goes on sale May 28.

John Winchester is haunted by his past and fears his future. The death of his wife Mary left him broken, but the revelation that his son Sam might have a connection to the dark world of the supernatural might be too much much to bear. Is he willing to sacrifice Dean to protect Sam from a lifetime of horrors?

Issue Three goes on sale June 25.

The sacrifices John Winchester has made for the "greater good" of hunting are tremendous, but he finally takes the biggest step of all: arranging a first "hunt" for his older son Dean. Is the young man ready for the horrors his father has hunted for years? Will he finally "connect" with an emotionally distant father in the only way possible?

Rising Son 4 Issue Four goes on sale July 23.

John's decision to start his son Dean down the road to the dark world of Hunting has left him unsure about what to do with his younger son, Sam. There's something special about Sam — but is that quality to be nurtured or feared? Could a mysterious woman trailing the trio hold the answer?

Still written by Supernatural Executive Producer Peter Johnson, but with all new art, the new series of Supernatural comics should help tide you over during the long, dry, rerun filled summer.

Now, about that contest. Supernatural comic author Peter Johnson will be autographing two copies of Supernatural Origins: The Director's Cut for the giveaway. This trade paperback is a compilation of the six comics in the first series but with a twist. After publication of the comics, Peter did an interview with me that brought him quite a bit of feedback. Fans spoke their mind about the Impala, the art, and various details that went against canon. So when they sat down to republish the comics in trade paperback form, Peter made a number of changes based on the fans suggestions -- including making the Impala the family car from the very first frame.

Oh yes, and Peter's plotting partner will be autographing the books, too. Some guy named Eric Kripke?

  1. Definitely "In My Time Of Dying". Everything fits in this episode. The acting, the music, the directing, the plot, the happy/funny moments and the really, very sad moments.

  2. My favorite Supernatural episode is "Devil's Trap".

  3. I'm placing it on Mystery Spot. When Sam died, Dean went crazy. When Dean died, SAM went crazy. Also, twist with the Trickster at the end rocks - was expecting it to be something about the Mystery Spot, and but then Sam tore it apart, and nothing changed. Cool.

  4. Born Under a Bad Sign - easy!

    *grin*

  5. Of all the great episodes that have been, I'd have to say What Is And What Should Never Be from Season 2. Each season really has a standout, but this one was something special to watch. What a change of pace!

  6. The Pilot episode.

  7. oh man, this is hard to pick just one. I'd have to say probably Devil's Trap.

Devil's Trap was just an awesome episode and it had a little bit of everything in it. it had an exorcism, the colt, torture, "lying and subterfuge", the boys rescued their dad, the boys and the car got mangled at the end, and it's the episode that brought us Bobby. It was great! It even had a couple of really sweet tender moments like when Meg dies and later at the cabin where the guys are hiding out, and Dean reflects on "what he's willing to do". It was just a really great episode all around. It had a little bit of everything that I love about this show.

another one that really sticks out in my mind would be the Christmas episode. the boys that played the young Winchesters in the flashbacks were absolutely amazing and the episode had some very sweet moments between the brothers, both in the flashbacks and in the present day scenes. Also the bad guys were really creepy! They were so different from most of the things the guys hunt! I mean, it was so bright and cheery and colorful in their house and they were both so pleasant and happy and FRIENDLY while they were torturing the guys and preparing to EAT them!!! Somehow that just made them seem that much more ominous. This episode had a good mix of the tender moments, funny moments and really creepy, disturbing moments. It was great!

  8. What Is And What Should Never Be. :)

  9. Cool contest!

Favorite single episode (for today): Season 2, episode 1 - In My Time of Dying - it encapsulates all the elements of the whole series in that one episode.

Rosewood's last blog post..Season 3, Episode 53: Jonathan Hardy Reading, Jack the Assassin, Noranti Review, and more.

  10. My fave is "In My Time of Dying".

  11. My favorite episode currently is Mystery Spot, but up until season three it was probably Croatoan

  12. My favorite episode? That's hard but I'd have to say "Born Under A Bad Sign".

  13. In my time of dying

  14. My favorite episode is "What Is And What Should Never Be".
    Jensen was fabulous.

  15. Fav. Episode: Devil's Trap

  16. Devil's Trap

  17. Born Under a Bad Sign. It's the one I keep watching over and over, when I get the DVDs out. Jared's acting is phenomenal. And this episode has it all - including Bobby and Jo. It portrays an evil Sam (even though it's not really him), something we're all on pins and needles about anyway.

  18. The Pilot, because it introduced us to this wonderful show :)

  19. What Is and What Should Never Be....an incredible episode

  20. In My Time of Dying

(but only by a thread! there are a lot of SPN episodes I'm in love with)

  21. What is and What Should Never Be

  22. Hard pick ...... I love them all .... the whole show...
Ok then, All hell breaks loose 2 .... Yeah, that would be it.

  23. Hell House. I've watched it so many times, but it's still hilarious and awesome.

  24. Born Under A Bad Sign because Sam got to be bad for once and gives us an image of how it would be if he gave in to the YED and lead the army of demons.

  25. Bad Day at Black Rock and Playthings.
I know that's two and not one ep, but I really can't choose.

  26. I really liked Roadkill. I thought it was really creative.

  27. My favourite has to be Tall Tales. Who can resist slow dancing aliens? And the look on Dean's face as he tries to resist the two scantily clad women.

  28. Episode 2x20: "What Is And What Should Never Be"

  29. Gotta go with Born Under a Bad Sign; fantastic performances from everyone involved, esp Jared. Plus it's a Bobby ep!

(I love these things, if just to find out what everyone else has picked up on from episodes we've all seen a dozen times.)

  30. Born Under a Bad Sign

  31. Because it had the best script, camera angles, visual fx, acting, music, intro to Henriksen, Sam channeling Agent Smith, Dean perving with security cameras, the laser eyes, mandroid conspiracy theories and one of the best escapes in television history?
    Night Shifter, hands down.

  32. Phantom Traveler, because it's what made me realize that I loved Supernatural.

  33. It's so hard to choose but I'd have to say Born Under a Bad Sign.

  34. All Hell Breaks Loose Part 1

  35. My favorite episode is What is and What Should Never Be. I really enjoyed seeing the boys from a different light and how things might have ended up had the demon not killed Mary.

  36. Born Under A Bad Sign, closely followed by Nightmare and Scarecrow.

  37. My favorite episode is What is and What should never be.

    Jenna

  38. My favorite episode is Tall Tales! :D
I loved how they told their versions of the story ;) Hilarious.

  39. I'd have to say that my favorite episode is probably Bloodlust.

  40. My favorite episode was Asylum.

I love creepy ghost stories about insane mental institutions.

  41. I will have to go with Mystery Spot...I loved the whole Groundhog Day thing...I would watch that episode a million times if I could...And Jensen is such a sweetheart!! !

Taylor Blue's last blog post..Spoilers For Moonlight Episode 1.16 ?Sonata?

  42. I would have to vote for "What is and What Should Never Be". I loved the whole alternate universe concept, and of course, I loved Dean in this episode.

  43. I guess I'll say Faith, because it was the ep that made me originally really love the show.

  44. My favorite episode would have to be What is and What Should Never Be, its so emotional, gets me every time :'(

  45. I'd have to say Nightshifter

Nightshifter was great because the character of Ron was fantastic and it introduced us to Henriksen. Ron was very likable, which of course made the episode heartbreaking. This is one of the first episodes where I was really sitting there going "how the heck are they going to get out of THIS one???" And the best part about it was that there wasn't a Deus Ex Machina to get them out either. They didn't use any outside help, or special-Sam-powers or anything, they just used their hunter's training and got really, really lucky. and not cheesy, TV-show kind of lucky, but lucky like you sit back at the end of that episode and go "man...THAT was close!" Just when you are thinking in your head "they are so screwed," Dean says "we are so screwed." It was a great episode!!! I also liked the way the music was used at the end, the editing was perfect.

    definitely Nightshifter

  46. My favorite episode was "In My Time of Dying". If I could only ever watch one episode, it'd be that one. It makes me cry every. single. time.

  47. Whew, hard decision, but I'm going to say "What Is And What Should Never Be"
